The Thames Valley District School Board is experiencing a Xerox toner scarcity, making it impossible for teachers to offer photocopied assignments to students in the near future.

The shortage is the result of supply chain disruptions caused by COVID-19.

The School District has been working with Xerox to offer a limited quantity of toner to schools that have run out. Meanwhile, it is urging other schools to minimize their photocopy usage.

Teachers were told of the shortage last week, according to Craig Smith, president of the Thames Valley local of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO). They haven’t been given an estimate of how long it will persist.
